FOUNDED IN 1958, the New Mexico Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) provides professional development and networking opportunities to New Mexico’s public relations professionals. Our purpose is to unite the profession, improve the practice, and encourage understanding and acceptance of public relations among all constituencies.
The chapter generally meets on the fourth Thursday of the month (except when holidays conflict), and sponsors regular professional development seminars and networking events. Monthly luncheon meetings feature speakers who share their experiences in communication and public relations activities.
New Mexico Chapter members have access to national PRSA resources, including magazines and newsletters, group insurance, the public relations body of knowledge, webinars, and other continuing education materials. Members also benefit from discounted luncheon events and may participate in local and national public relations awards contests.
Members with five or more years of experience may qualify for the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) certification, a professional certification that indicates knowledge of public relations principles, ethics and techniques. NMPRSA conducts APR preparatory exam workshops twice a year to assist members in taking the national examination.
