Kick-off the New Year with a lively and informative discussion on the State of the State of Public Relations in New Mexico. New Mexico PRSA is kicking off its monthly luncheon series with a panel discussion on what public relations and communications look like in New Mexico – what’s changing and innovative tactics and strategies that are helping to move the industry forward. The event is Thursday, Jan. 25th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Season’s Rotisserie and Grill, 2031 Mountain Road, in Albuquerque near Old Town. Tickets are $30 for PRSA members and $35 for non-members.

John is a communications expert with highly successful experience in music & entertainment, publishing, high technology, financial services, advanced manufacturing, hospitality, government and other industries. John got his start in Santa Fe, New Mexico and then worked throughout Los Angeles generating record sales and media coverage producing music, comedy & cultural events with world-renowned artists. He returned to New Mexico and served as Public Relations Manager for the city of Santa Fe, setting earned media records and winning international awards while raising ever-increasing awareness of the city’ s many diverse attractions. John serves on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Hospitality Association as well as the Santa Fe Economic Development Advisory Committee and Economic Development.
Alexis Kerschner Tappan – public relations, marketing and communications consultant
With has more than 16 years of public relations and communications experience and trained in print journalism, Alexis’ uses that background when crafting compelling messaging and developing strong, trusting relationships with the news media. As the Vice President of Public Relations at Rick Johnson & Company Advertising, Alexis worked with a variety of statewide clients and some of the brightest creative minds in the state, developing a keen understanding of what it takes to develop marketing communications that sparkles. She then served as Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations and Special Assistant to the President at Central New Mexico Community College. She now serves as a public relations, marketing and communications consultant for a variety of large and small clients. She serves on the boards and executive committees of the UNM Alumni Association and the Explora Children's Science Museum.
