Cumbre Awards Crash Course – How to Step Up Your Award Submissions
What’s the difference between goals and objectives? How important is research? Should I submit my project into multiple categories? Get answers to all these questions and more as we head into Cumbre Awards season! Join the New Mexico Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America with a virtual panel discussion that will guide your through the process of creating a successful campaign or tactic entry.
Whether you’re a Cumbre Awards veteran or new to the process, get tips and tricks as well as learn best practices to optimally showcase your organization’s stellar work. Our June program will help you translate that work into an award-winning submission with plenty of time before the final July 31 deadline. We will bring together feedback from a past Cumbre Awards judge who has also judged multiple PRSA Silver Anvil (national) awards and insights from NMPRSA members that been awarded numerous Gold and Best-of-Show Cumbre awards over the years.

Giblin Marketing & Communications LLC; Lynn Komer, owner of PK Public Relations; and Kristelle Siarza; Owner and CEO of Siarza Social Digital; as they discuss everything you need to know to step up your awards submissions – from formatting your Cumbre Awards entries to breaking down the four-step method to using your awards as a marketing tool for your organization – with moderator Marissa Le, former Cumbre Awards Chair of four years and New Mexico PRSA Board Member.

Robert Giblin, APR
Owner, R. Giblin Marketing & Communications LLC
Bob’s career spans more than 40 years of agency, corporate, government and military experience. As a public relations strategist, most of his career focused on building brands, relationships, reputations and markets for agriculture and food companies and organizations — nationally and globally. He focuses on achieving measurable business results through research-based strategy, planning, issues and crisis management, stakeholder engagement, training, and creative problem solving. He is Accredited in Public Relations, and served for nearly 20 years on the board overseeing the public relations accreditation (APR) examination program.
Bob has conducted workshops and training programs on communications planning, measurement and evaluation, and research management, for Fortune 100 companies, PR agencies and professional associations. He has served as a judge for the PRSA Silver Anvil Awards, as well as numerous other public relations awards programs at the local and national levels. Bob holds a B.S. in agricultural journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, certificate in qualitative market research from AC Nielsen/Burke Institute, and he graduated from the Department of Defense Information School. In his spare time, he is also a Kansas City BBQ Society certified BBQ Judge, and a Steak Cookoff Association judge.

Lynn Komer established PK Public Relations in 1998 and has decades of experience providing executive-level strategic counsel and developing integrated and complex marketing campaigns to serve the public interest. She first learned strategic communications and issues advocacy as a caseworker for a U.S. Senator and as a legislative analyst. Lynn honed her skills in integrated campaigns and stakeholder engagement as the director of communications for a multi-state health company.
Lynn believes in working with clients she likes and causes she believes in. She has won multiple awards, including the Cumbre Campaign Best of Show and multiple Golds, on behalf of her clients based on her depth of issue experience and her ability to frame and convey complex communications. She is the 2019 recipient of the Board Member of the Year and nominee for the Ted B. Sherwin Member of Year.
Owner and CEO, Siarza Social Digital
Kristelle is a business executive, strategist and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in digital communications and marketing. In 2014, she founded Siarza Social Digital – a 360-degree digital communications firm that pivots on innovation, curation and creativity. The company has grown to 20 team members working globally for the digital marketing agency.
Kristelle has consulted for and assisted several organizations with digital marketing and communications strategies for various industries, like health, finance, cannabis, retail and government. Her team has helped clients generate millions of impressions and SiarzaSD’s award-winning campaigns have received local and national recognition. She has also helped companies with their launch by building their business and marketing strategies.
