Lessons Learned (& Learning) From COVID-19
The New Mexico Chapter of the Public Relations Society of American invites you to a virtual panel featuring: Tim Korte, Communications Manager, New Mexico Gas Company; Denise Nava, Communications Manager of the Albuquerque Community Foundation; Lynn Trojahn, Founder/CEO of Thrive Consulting; and Jill Zack, Owner, Zack & Associates Creative Agency. The panel will be moderated by Kyle Biederwolf, External Affairs Manager for Comcast.
Join us Thursday, Sept. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a moderated discussion that will address the lessons learned, and lessons we continue to learn, from the COVID-19 pandemic. The discussion will address external and internal communication lessons, readjusting to work-from-home, work-life balance, mental health, and staying motivated. We are excited to host a diverse group of communication and business leaders to engage in this conversation.

Tim Korte has served as Manager of Communications at New Mexico Gas Company since November 2016, overseeing customer and employee communications, media relations, digital communications and advertising and marketing. Before that, he was a public information officer at the Second Judicial District Court and the State of New Mexico after a 20-year career as an Associated Press reporter, sportswriter and supervisory correspondent. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and English and a master’s in Public Administration, both from the University of New Mexico.
Born and raised in a Silver City, New Mexico, Denise is the daughter of first-generation parents. She is a graduate of New Mexico State University & University of New Mexico. Passionate about nonprofit impact and its effect on a community, she is an advocate of personal growth through learning, listening, and experiencing life to its fullest. She is the Senior Communications Manager for the Albuquerque Community Foundation but dabbled in many other roles at the organization including Scholarship Coordinator. Denise is constantly curious about the everchanging role of philanthropy in the community and its collaboration with small business, government, and nonprofits. She is a mentor through Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New Mexico. Lover of writing and poetry when time permits, Denise is also a talented dancer in jazz and ballet, finding that her true expression comes from movement.
Thrive Consulting’s founder & CEO, Lynn Trojahn, has committed her life to philanthropy and working with individuals to have the resources they need to grow so that people and organizations thrive. She has happily been a fundraiser and coach for almost 4 decades, helping to raise almost $180 million for nonprofit causes in California and since 1993, her home state of New Mexico, where she now trains and consults to create sustainable, joyous fundraising and revenue streams so that organizations have all the money they need to propel their missions. Lynn has been a board member and/or chair of New Mexico Association of Fundraising Professionals (NMAFP), United Way of Central New Mexico, the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and their Albuquerque Reads Program, the Laguna Community Foundation, and A Network for Grateful Living.
Jill Zack is a highly respected marketer and business development leader with a broad range of experience and expertise. She is a strategic implementer of creative initiatives which have resulted in the funding of multi‐million-dollar projects and increased profitability for complex private, government and non-profit organizations. Ms. Zack currently serves as the VP of Marketing for SWDS | An Acrisure Partner, which works in the Finance and Insurance space within the automotive industry. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including the American Marketing Association National Non-Profit Marketer of the Year Nominee, and the YWCA’s Women on the Move Award and she is an active supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), having served on the local board of JDRF in both CO and NM. A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Ms. Zack holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism with concentrations in both Advertising and Fine Art.
A native of Albuquerque, Biederwolf has a deep passion for his community. He is an External Affairs Manager for Comcast, supporting the company’s community impact and external communications for New Mexico and Southern Arizona. In this role, Biederwolf supports efforts related to Comcast’s local community partnerships and charitable giving, communication and social media campaigns, digital equity outreach, content development, event management. Biederwolf sits on the Board of Directors of the Young Professionals of Albuquerque, the Public Relations Society of America NM Chapter, the UNM Alumni Association Board, and is a Mentor with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central New Mexico. In 2020, Biederwolf was honored by Albuquerque Business First as a New Mexico 40 Under Forty Honoree. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Public Administration, both from the University of New Mexico.
