President's Report

April marks APR Month—a time to recognize professionals committed to the highest standards in public relations and to encourage others to consider the journey.

For me, pursuing my Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2026 will be about more than adding credentials. It will be an opportunity to strengthen my foundation in strategy, research and evaluation, and to move beyond instinct into more intentional, measurable communications. The process will challenge me to think differently, sharpen my skills and recommit to ethics and excellence. Ultimately, I'm confident that earning my APR will help me grow as a communicator and better align my work with the communities and organizations I serve.

If you’ve been considering APR, I hope this month will inspire you to explore your own “why” and take that next step.

Membership News

The APR is recognized as the standard for strategic thinking, ethical practice and leadership in public relations.

This April, we are excited to feature two seasoned APR members and asked them: What advice would you give members considering earning their APR this year?

Carroll Voelkel, APR, 1998
"Go for it. The APR process is rigorous, but that’s exactly what makes it worthwhile. It pushes you to think strategically about research, planning, implementation, and evaluation—not just tactics."

Jennifer Kemp, APR, 2002
"I believe the APR is not only a distinguished credential for communications professionals to earn, I also believe that it demonstrates your dedication to the highest level of communications in our profession."

If you’re ready to elevate your work—and your impact—APR Month is the time to start.  Learn more at prsa.org/apr
